Amplifying Wellness

Wellness, and the value of it as a practice, has gained a lot more large-scale awareness in recent years.

Over the last couple of years in particular, we haven’t operated at the same level of busyness that we had in the past. As a result, more people started to take stock of their actions and assess what made them feel their best and what brought about the lowest energy.

What is Wellness?

It can be easy to confuse wellness with other terms that we hear everyday such as happiness, health and wellbeing. While these are associated, wellness isn’t about just one thing or feeling, it's “the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.”. Essentially, it is about all the choices that we make and the impact they have on us overall.

To help you start to think about your wellness, remember, holistic health isn’t just physical. It is made up of at least 6 different factors (sometimes up to 9 or 12) including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and environmental.

What is wellness for you?

There isn’t a one size fits all model when it comes to wellness. We’re all individuals, therefore what leads to optimal holistic health for one person won’t necessarily achieve the same result for another, and that’s okay!

If you’re finding yourself at the beginning of your wellness journey, or if you’ve tried a lot of different activities but feel overwhelmed by all the options, taking a step back to help reduce the noise can be a great place to start.

Put together an audit of your activities (or ones you’re interested in trying) and ask yourself:

  • What do you do that gives you the greatest energy? What makes you feel your best and most well?
  • What things do you do that reduces your energy or has a negative impact?
  • What are you truly interested in trying?

There are lots of options out there, so be discerning about what actions you want to take. Don’t feel pressured to take on fad habits or do what others tell you is healthy. Make the decisions that are best for you.

In his TED Talk, A.J. Jacobs says “joy is so important to your health”. Ensure that joy happens when you apply your wellness techniques - this will increase your enjoyment and have a habit stick.

To support your journey, our habit tracker is a great tool that you can use to help you practically apply and amplify your wellness activities. You’ll be able to clearly define those actions you want to take and keep track of your progress.
